A) Question: If I forget to take off the string linking my jacket to the bike, won’t the airbag system turn me into the Michelin man? C) Question: What is the main advantage of wearing an airbag jacket rather than a traditional jacket? Answer: The best jackets on the market are equipped with protecting shells. The impact of a shock on a gutter, the floor or any obstacle will depend on the weight and speed of the rider. The best shells reduce the impact up to 17 times. The airbag can distribute the shock on all parts of the body and not only on the colliding spot, and this distribution allows him to be 25 times more effective as the best of shells. Please note that when airbags are inflated, there is a pressure on the cloth of the jacket and their fibers are stretched to the maximum. In that case the jacket is turned into a shield against the object which could be hit, but it acts above all as a corset to avoid the twisting of the back and the dislocation of the vertebrae column at the moment of impact.
D) Question: Will the jacket activates quickly enough before I hit the ground? Answer: The HELITE Airbag jacket inflates in several phases. The first airbag will maintain the helmet to avoid lesions at the upper cervical vertebrae, then the coccyx, the back and the front. So the first airbag inflates in 0.085 seconds, and the rest of the jacket will inflate in 0.2 seconds. You will then be fully protected in less than a meter fall’s time!
E) Question: Once the jacket is inflated, will I bounce on the ground like a baloon? Answer: The jacket does not act as a balloon, but rather as a shock absorber.
F) Question: Given the quickness of trigger, isn’t there a risk that the airbag causes lesions at my neck? Answer: The trigger of the airbag does not push the head forward, it rather applies a pressure on the lower part of the helmet, at the back and sides. This will maintain the helmet in a stable position and will therefore avoid any cervical vertebrae injury.
G) Question: Once the jacket has inflated, can it be used again? Answer: You will just need to reconnect the security string, fold up the airbags, and replace the gas cartridge. Unless it has been torn, your jacket will protect you again from shocks.
